Founded in 1973, The Shed Bar & Grill is a family-friendly staple in Spring Green, WI, that serves the surrounding areas. Our Story

Since 1973, The Shed Bar & Grill has been a beloved gathering place in Spring Green, Wisconsin, serving great food, cold drinks, and memorable experiences to locals and visitors alike. More than just a restaurant and bar, The Shed is a cornerstone of the community—a place where families, friends, coworkers, and neighbors come together to celebrate, connect, and enjoy quality time.

The story of The Shed is deeply rooted in the history of Spring Green. Housed in a historic brick building dating back to the early 1900s, the property has played many roles throughout the years, including serving as a bowling alley, hardware store, and local tavern. In the 1940s, part of the building became McGinley's Tavern before evolving into Hook's Bar, which operated for decades as a local favorite. In 1975, the space was expanded, renovated, and officially became The Shed, creating a new chapter in the building's rich history.

Today, The Shed continues its legacy under dedicated ownership committed to preserving the welcoming atmosphere and community spirit that have defined it for generations. After seeing the building sit empty for two years, the current owners reopened The Shed because of their love for the area and the people who call it home. Their mission remains simple: provide exceptional food, outstanding service, and a comfortable environment where everyone feels welcome.

Known for our made-to-order pizzas, juicy burgers, famous fish fry, and extensive menu of classic favorites, The Shed offers something for every appetite. Whether you're stopping in for a casual lunch, family dinner, drinks with friends, or a special celebration, you'll find quality ingredients, generous portions, and friendly service waiting for you.

One of our most popular features is our spacious outdoor patio, where guests can enjoy great food and drinks while soaking in the atmosphere of downtown Spring Green. We also host Thursday night live music, creating a fun and lively setting for guests to gather and enjoy local entertainment. Throughout the year, we proudly support community events, local nights, and special gatherings that bring people together.

We worked up an appetite with an afternoon of shopping at a number of fab shops, then literally walked across Lexington St to the Shed. The interior is woodsy and welcoming, and the entire place (even the gender-neutral bathrooms🙏) was spotlessly clean and well cared for. Our server was flying solo during our middle of the afternoon on a weekday visit, but she did a fabulous job of taking care of our boisterous group of six. We started with an order of onion rings, which were yummy and gone in seconds! Youngest to oldest we ordered; Two Chicken Bacon Ranch wraps, both with fried pickles. The all American classic, burger and fries, 1/2 lb mixture of brisket, short rib and chuck, locally sourced from Straka meats. Served on a brioche bun with lettuce, tomato, onion and (optional) cheese. Two fresh and fabulous Summer salads with strawberries, red onion, cranberries and nuts on a bed of mixed greens. One with grilled chicken, the other, crispy. And last but certainly not least, Louise decided to have an appetizer for lunch, choosing the ultra delish Sweet Chili Cauliflower Bites Battered cauliflower bites tossed in a sweet chili sauce topped with green onions and sesame seeds, served on a bed of arugula. Everything was fantastic and I 100% recommend this charming neighborhood spot⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
